Linger

Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

F STI SciFi/Fantasy

In this second installment of The Wolves Mercy Falls series, Grace secretly hides her love for Sam from her parents while Sam struggles to forget his werewolf past and claim a human future. The new wolf member of the pack, Cole, holds a popular position in society that threatens to ruin the wolf pack's secret way of life. Isabel still struggles with the lose of her brother but takes control of new situations which arise to help the pack stay safe. While the love between Sam and Grace deepens, Grace attempts to hold on to her human skin.

Just a reminder this a book review, just my opinion. I did not find this book as exciting as the first, Shiver. Maybe, the reason for that is because of the time lapse between Shiver's publication to the release of Linger. But also, to me, the book was extremely slow until the last chapter when the characters finally take action. Overall, the character development was flat. Readers are introduced to two somewhat new characters, Cole and Victor; however, their story is blended between Grace and Sam's sad slow moving love story. Maybe, I would have enjoyed this book more if I reread Shiver, but I believe it was lacking the "it" factor. The author does leave the reader hanging for the third book, which does not come out until July 2011. So if you want to enjoy this series a little more, you may want to wait until you can get your hands on all three books.
