This is the first book in Cassandra Clare's Infernal Device series, a prequel to her bestselling Mortal Instruments books. Sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray travels to England in search of her brother only to be abducted by the Dark Sisters, residents of London's Downworld, home to the city's supernatural creatures and she becomes the object of much attention--both good and bad--when it is discovered she has the power to transform at will into another person. Although prior knowledge of the Mortal Instruments books isn't necessary to enjoy this title, newcomers to the world will be rushing to read what they've missed.
