If I Stay

If I Stay
F FOR

If I Stay by Gayle Forman has been on my "to read list" for a while.  I have seen several blog postings about this one and her other books.  I have to say I liked her writing style, the character development, the musical connections, and the length of the book.  However, it is sad, sad, sad.  My last reading post was  laugh out loud but this book just made me cry.  You will need your tissues for If I Stay
Mia is a budding cellist with an interesting yet very normal family.  On a cold, Oregon "snow day" the family decides to take a drive since the snow is letting up.  However, the drive turns fatal and leaves Mia wondering.  In her out of body experience, Mia recounts her life, her love, and whether the remains are worth the stay.
Where She Went told from Mia's boyfriend's, Adam, point of view follows If I Stay.  I have not read that one yet, I need to go back to something lighter.  Even though I can see the appeal of this YA book and it was worth my time to read, our world is sad enough, I need books that make me happy.
