Valkyrie Rising by Ingrid Paulson

This is certainly a title to add to one's reading list.  Currently, we do not own a copy of this book; however, it is in our "to purchase" list.
                                                         In her first novel,
Ingrid Paulson, takes the reader to the Scandinavian side of the world with a mix of teenagers and Norse mythology.  Sixteen year old Ellie and her brother Graham go to visit their grandmother for the summer.  Tagging along, is Tuck, Graham's BFF.  Tuck is more of an annoyance to Ellie and Graham is the helicopter brother.  However, Ellie discovers the true magic of her ancestry and her new magical powers will help save them all from the grips of Odin.

Spoiler Alert!  I really enjoyed this book for several reasons:
1.  I found the Norse mythology interesting, it is not something I know or have read much about.
2.  Ellie becomes a strong female character but has to make some difficult choices.
3.  There are no vampires, no one dies, the grandmother is super cool and there is a little romance.
4.  There will or should be a sequel.

Happy Reading!
What is next on your list?
