It has been some time since we posted so I thought I would start with my latest read.  Life of Pi by Yann Martel is currently showing in the movie theaters and it is our staff book club read of the month.  Once I started this adventurous book, I could not put it down.  I was skeptical on how this book would stand out...I mean a boy on a boat with a tiger...thrilling.  It surpassed my expectations!  It was not the sad and tiresome Castaway (movie with Tom Hanks) that I was anticipating, the twist at the end made you think and I am certain will prompt fabulous discussion.  Someone could write a paper on the symbolism alone in the book, if they have not already.  The book was just a perfect story so now I do NOT want to see the movie. I am so afraid that Hollywood will ruin my image of this young boy and his determination to survive.

I am replacing my favorite book, Water for Elephants with Life of Pi.  If you are a reader and looking for a stand alone story with thought provoking story elements, then this is a must read!
